Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. As many of you know mom started feeling bad a couple of weeks ago.  She began having very bad headaches and while dad was home in Cincinnati she went to the hospital in Florida.  She wasn't given many answers besides they wanted to do an MRI.  Dad returned to Florida on the 13th and found mom really feeling badly, she hadn't been eating much and was still complaining of stomach/head pain and also her heart was racing.  He took her to the hospital where they admitted her and immediately began running tests.  They did a CT on her head and chest and immediately found a mass in her lungs and also lesions on her skull.  They did a biopsy on her lungs before they returned home to Cincinnati.
Mom and dad flew home on Tuesday, the 21st.  She seemed to be doing ok that evening when I visited her.  Later that evening we believe mom had a couple seizures and fell.   She was in  a lot of pain and we thought she had broken her hip and some ribs.  We took her to the hospital on Wednesday, the 22nd for more tests and to get X-rays from her fall.  They told us that she did not break anything but could have had some hairline fractures.  She was unable to walk without assistance, and is still using a walker to get around since she is still in pain.
Friday the 24th the Dr's confirmed what we all had hoped wasn't true but also knew was a probable diagnosis.  Mom does in fact have stage 4 cancer.  The diagnosis was very hard to hear even if you are expecting it.  The Dr's immediately wanted to begin radiation on her head to help reduce the pressure the lesions are placing on her brain.  She was released from the hospital on Monday March 27th.  She also had her first radiation treatment Monday.  She will have radiation for 10 days, M-F and then M-F.  We are still waiting on a plan for her lungs and next week she will also go for a PET scan as well as a molecular blood test.
I will continue to post updates as we get them.  I wanted a common place for information to be put so everyone would be able to keep up to date.  We know how much you all love mom and the prayers, kind words, texts, emails have all meant the world to all of us. I did tell mom I was creating this page but she quickly replied that she wouldn't get on it!  I reassured her that was fine, it's just a place for those that love her to check on her!  WE ARE FIGHTING THIS!!
