Hi there! This is Dana Brawley, Ronnie's daughter. On behalf of my brothers and I, we want to thank you for visiting Dad's CaringBridge site and joining us on this journey!
For several months Dad has been having difficulty swallowing and it progressively got worse. On Tuesday, November 6th, Ron took Dad to UVa Hospital ER. Dad had lost 50lbs over the course of about 4-5 weeks. He hadn't been able to eat for close to a week and was EXTREMELY dehydrated. They admitted him and began the process of finding out what's going on. After doing a scan and endoscopy, it was determined that Dad was diagnosed with Stage IV Small Cell Esophageal Cancer. 😔
We immediately began talking to UVa Oncologists about treatment options and what to do next.
Dad began his chemo treatment and continued to receive TPN IV nutrition.
