Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Roma was admitted to Emory St. Joseph's Hospital Tuesday, September 13, 2016 after passing out at home that morning. She has had an abdominal aortic aneurysm for years that finally caused the arterial walls to split up to her carotid artery and down to her kidneys.  Roma underwent an 8 hour surgery to repair the arteries and repair the aortic valve. She remained in recovery for close to 30 hours and went back to surgery to clean and close her chest cavity Thursday, Sept. 15th.

Surgically, everything looks terrific.  Her major obstacle is waking up from anesthesia without being agitated.  This path has been complicated by pain and seizure medications which are keeping her "cloudy" but are absolutely necessary.  When she is calmly awake and alert, they can begin removing the ventilator.  She will be so much happier then...and so will her family.

We will add journal entries below so you can follow Roma's progress.  Thanks to all of you who love our family so well!
