Hello, My name is Kate Kimball, a newer friend relative to his Newton, Park, and UMass friends! Rodger supported me during my own health journey, and I’m grateful to be able to return the gift. I have volunteered to manage communication for Rodger so that he is free to use his energy on other things. All information and volunteer opportunities will be posted here. Rodger has been diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer that is not presently curable. The treatment is a combination of radiation and chemo. Radiation and chemo will begin in late November and end six weeks later. He will have a month-long break (December) then start chemo, which he will take daily, by pill. He wants to be part of a clinical trial which others are looking into.
Rodger cannot drive until December 6 which is how friends and family can be so helpful - that’s you! 😊 I’ll talk with Rodger about his desires and how we can most helpful to him while he cannot drive. Once I know the details about radiation, I’ll post that information in addition to other errand needs, on the calendar for people to sign up.
As things unfold, his needs will undoubtedly evolve. I’ve encouraged him to take things as they come and assured him that he has our support for the long haul.
