River Harkins

To all of our family, friends, and colleagues

Many of you may already know River, our nine-year-old son, and are aware of the challenging journey that lay ahead. For those who don't, River has been diagnosed with stage 4 Burkitt's Lymphoma.  Doctor at Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, Texas performed surgery on Monday, August 9 which confirmed diagnosis and began immediate treatment on a tumor in his back which was pressing against his spinal cord.  Burkitt's is a well-worn path in the world of oncology with established, highly effective treatments.  River's personal strength, determination, and will power are exceptionally high, and he has the best friends that a boy could have.  Thank you for becoming a part of Caring Bridge, we appreciate all of your love & support, and please come back often to receive updates on River's progress toward the moment when he can ring his bell cancer-free.
