Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

A patient once told me that if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it!

I wanted to ask for prayers from my family and friends for my latest medical drama.  I'm scheduled to have brain surgery to remove a likely benign tumor on 8/24/2020,  I know it's hard to process!  As I'm typing this it's still hard for me to believe.  This was found during some additional testing in follow up of the aneuyism I had in August 2001 in my carotid artery.  I'm having it done at UAB by Dr Winfield Fisher.  It is on the surface of the brain right at the top of the skull.  Many tumors of this size would simply continue to be watched for growth, etc.  However, with my already decreaased mobility and considering the location, which is just above the motor strip area in the brain which if damaged could potentially impair my mobility even further it was decided it would be better to remove now vs waiting.

Please be in prayer for my medical team.   For God to guide Dr Fisher's hands and mind and for the remainder of the team to have compassion and knowledge.  Pray for Scott to have strength in all aspects  to go through this.  For Emily and Jacob to also have strength and to know that God is in control of all things.  Scott and I have been through many trials together and have handled what has been handed to us as best as we could.  Pray for Scott's mother, Marcia, to remain healthy as she recently became a resident at Trussville Healthcare and Rehab and fell while there about 2 weeks ago and broke her hip.  She is suffering from dementia.  Pray for Susan to have peace while all this is going on.

Pray for me to have the physical strength needed to endure this and the mental strength as well.  Pray for my body to respond appropriately to this surgery and specifically for no siezures and no decrease in my mobility.  I will need your prayers for my physical strength as well as my baseline is already diminished because of spinal muscular atrophy (a slowly progressive muscular wasting disease),

A wonderful friend, Donna Arcara, has agreed to update this site when she communicates with Scott.  Emily, Jacob and Scott may occasionaly update but they will each tell you who is updating.  Donna has been our neighbor and friend (aka family) for over 20 years now.

I'm so thankful to have a wonderful group of family and friends who will pray for us and support our family in many ways.
Pray for us to stay free from COVID 19.

I've had some preoperative testing completed already which has went as expected and have bloodwork and another COVID test just prior to my surgery to be done.

I will update if anything changes.

Please feel free to share with anyone who believes in the power of prayer!
