Ray "Keith" Logue Everyone's Brother

First post: Apr 16, 2019 Latest post: May 2, 2019
Thanks for stopping by today.  This page is dedicated to my brother, Raymond Keith Logue.  Our family has always called him Keith.  You may know him as Ray.  But it doesn't matter what you call him.  When you meet him, you realize that he's the brother you never knew you had - or needed.  Keith may be a bit shy but, once you get to know him, he's kind, funny, generous and a terrific guy to have in your life.  Everybody's brother.

On March 30th, Keith got up and went to work at Limerick Generating Station like any other Wednesday.   When he arrived at work, his coworkers said "Dude, you're yellow!".  Thankfully they took care of their brother and sent him to get checked out right away.  A few hours later he was admitted to the hospital and undergoing tests to see why he looked like a minion.

The diagnosis?   Pancreatic Cancer.  Two words that were horrible for us to hear.   Keith's tumor is located on the head of his pancreas and is pressing on the bile duct of the liver.  The pressure made the bile back up in the liver and caused the jaundice.  This is a good thing!  It allowed the cancer to be discovered early giving Keith a better chance at successful treatment and a cure.  While in the hospital, Keith underwent a procedure to place a stent in the duct and allow the bile to drain.  It was successful and now he's returned to his normal color :)  Testing indicates that the cancer is localized to the pancreas (no spreading anywhere else) and only one lymph node is involved.  Another good thing!  Keith is in good health (other than that pesky tumor) which will allow him to start treatment promptly.  Another good thing!

After he was released form the hospital, he went for a follow up appointment with the oncologist.  The doctor gave us a lot of good information but said that he doesn't perform the type of surgery Keith will need.  He referred us to Fox Chase.  And the adventure begins....
