On Thursday, July 6th, Priscilla was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Cancer was first suspected after a Doctor’s visit on Thursday, June 29th. Priscilla was doing fine until the morning of Tuesday, July 4th, when she lost all strength in her left leg and was advised to go to ER that day. While in the ER, doctors did a series of tests and discovered she had a blood clot in her left leg and lungs. Unfortunately, at some point while in the ER, she suffered a minor stroke on her left side of brain as well. This lead to a six (6) day stay at St. Joseph’s Hospital. While in the hospital, Doctors performed several tests, including a liver biopsy which confirmed cancer, originating in her Pancreas. Official diagnosis, Maestatic Pancreatic Cancer, which there currently is no cure. An Oncologist on call met with family, and discussed treatment, which involves chemo every fifteen days. A port (aka Portacath) was surgically placed under her skin, which goes directly to a vein that allows for easier treatment and continuation of chemo treatment at home. The treatment is 72 hours long. In addition to the chemo, Priscilla is going to also fight cancer with a Vegan Diet, which has been proven to reduce the growth of cancer. Close friends and family are researching all other treatments, homeopathic, etc. that can prolong Priscilla’s life.
As we, her family and friends, know Priscilla, she is a fighter, full of love and optimism, with a smile as wide as the ocean, and a devout daughter of God. Within His love and care, Priscilla will win her battle one small victory at a time.
Priscilla is an amazing, selfless wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and friend. She is John's soulmate, Chrissa's best friend, Jonathan's Memere and profoundly loved by everyone who knows her. Please keep Priscilla and her family in your thoughts and prayers. The last two weeks have been an eye opener on how fragile life can be, and how God blesses us with his grace and small miracles daily.
