When Gideon was born he was diagnosed with Ilium Atresia and had surgery at only 48 hours old to correct it. It was a bumpy and trying road, but once home from the hospital, he was a healthy, growing little boy on the go! On September the 10th, at 15 months old he was taken to the ER in pain. The doctors determined that there was a problem with his small intestine and he was transferred to Willis Knighton South in Shreveport for surgery. 5% of babies born with Atresia will have complications at some point, from the bowel twisting. Doctors said this was the case with Gideon. As a result, he’s had 2 surgeries to remove the damaged portions of his small intestine. At this point there are many unknowns. We are walking this road one day at a time in prayer and hope for Gideon’s future.
