On May 19, Phil was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer, that attacked his kidneys. After continuous chemo and hospitalizations, his kidneys failed on July 3 , and he began dialysis three days per week for 4 hours per session. His catheter used for dialysis was replaced on August 17, providing better results, though his condition is now chronic. He started a second chemo regimen on July 24 that has yet to produce significant results. On September 29, Phil will begin a stem cell transplant process at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, lasting 6-8 weeks.
