Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 Paul woke up at 12 :00 midnight complaining that he was unable to breathe. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Hayward, Wisconsin where they quickly realized that his situation was critical. He was immediately air lifted to St. Mary's hospital in Duluth where they were able to stabilize him. They determined that he would need surgery to repair two valves in his heart that had been leaking. The best place for this surgery would be at Abbott Northwestern hospital in Minneapolis. Paul was airlifted from Duluth to Minneapolis with in hours of arriving. By 6 pm he was in the ICU at Abbott waiting for further tests. Thursday, he had an eco cardio gram and an angiogram that showed he has three veins with blockage and Paul had suffered a minor heart attack. Friday, September 9th he had open heart surgery to replace both valves, three by pass veins, and shocked a node in his heart to help control his atrial fibrillation.
