Hey guys, it's Jess, Patsy's daughter... Well, let's see where to start:) Over that last year my mom Patsy has had a few health problems as you may know (haha). There were complications from her hip resurfacing that she has been recovering well with since repeat surgery in December 2016. Just recently after feeling great, more energy, walking, and looking forward to full recovery, she went for an abdominal ultrasound on April 7th related to increased bloating and feeling full fast that she has noticed over the last few years. She also complained her 'menopausal' belly was getting a little out of hand as simply related to 'just a part of getting older'. She got the results back from an ultrasound indicating she had a large amount of tumor, fluid and mucus in her abdomen. Further tests revealed the presence of a mucinous adenocarcinoma arising likely from an ovarian or GI origin. Surgery for removal of partial tumors and 2 liters of mucinous fluid occurred yesterday 5/16/17; mom seems to be recovering well. We will possibly know more this week or early next after a tumor board review at UW on Thursday, and the hope is to start chemotherapy in 2-3 weeks. I am so grateful that I have been able to be here in Anacortes, close to Erik and further family and friends during this diagnosis and have the ability to be at mom's side. Thank you so much for ALL of the amazing energy, prayers, and support. Glad summer is approaching fast with cherry blossoms, sunshine, seafood and good spirits to fuel our fire. I will try to keep this current and be mom's voice as she saves her energy for healing. She appreciates you all so much. Now wish me luck in telling her what to do! LOL
