Hello family, friends and neighbors.    Pat and her  kids will be using this site to update you on her cancer journey.   In April,  I was diagnosed with leukemia and the doctor shared that I would have to have a bone marrow transplant.  I chose to have my transplant at Mayo in Rochester.  So the journey started with many appointments in Ames and Rochester for chemotherapy, blood and platelet  transfusions and consultations,  which had led to where I am now, ready to have the bone marrow transplant.  The transplant will be Thursday, November 17th.    We were so blessed to have my brother Jim be a match for the bone marrow.  He bravely and graciously spent over a week in Rochester donating the marrow which has been frozen and is  waiting for all things to be ready.   Along the way, I have had so much support from family, friends and neighbors and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  Your prayers and caring mean so much to me and I'm looking forward to the rest of my journey when I can spend more time and memories with all of you.  My mom always finished her letters or cards with "Remember, Jesus Loves You."  So I will finish mine with her quote and also that he loves me too!  He walks beside me on this journey giving me strength and blessings each day.
