In July of 2017, I was diagnosed with bladder cancer after a misdiagnosis of interstitial cystitis . Dennis and I decided that the Mayo Clinic would be the best place to go. August 1-5 was spent in Rochester, Minnesota , completing tests and biopsies. Dr. Karnes had hoped to do a partial removal. On the 7 th of August we received the results of the biopsies. My bladder is fighting two types of cancer, carcinoma situ CIS and urothelial cancer. Den and I will be traveling back to Rochester next week for appointments and surgery scheduled for August 17. I have been warned that this is one of the biggest surgeries someone can undergo because of multiple removals, diversion and a 40-50% complication rate. My bladder and other abdominal sites will be removed and he will give me an illeal conduit. I ask, if you would, please say a prayer for me. I am trusting in God's love and mercy to guide me through the next phase of my life. Den will keep you informed of surgical results next week. ❤️
