On Friday November 2, 2018 Nick Volden was involved in horrific bull riding accident. He was transported to Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in Lacrosse WI. He is in the critical care unit and has underwent a surgery on Saturday to remove several bones in his neck to allow swelling to take place. He was also put on a ventilator at that time. Nick has no feeling from his neck down at this time. Nick was alert, and talking on Sunday when the vent was removed. The vent has since been put back on to assist with his breathing and allow him to rest more peacefully. The plans are in the works to transfer Nick to Mayo Rochester MN for a second opinion and he will also enter the rehab unit there. The transfer will take place as soon as all the paperwork is complete and it is approved by insurance
