On August 29th, 2016, Neil R. Jones (32 yrs old) suffered a traumatic brain injury while working. He apparently fainted and his head struck a machine and then the concrete floor. He fractured his skull. He was lucid when he regained consciousness, but started to make less sense as minutes passed waiting for the ambulance. He had a seizure on the way to the hospital. His injury and the subsequent swelling required putting him into a medically induced coma. He has had complications with pneumonia and high lactic acid levels. Not a good combination as treatments for the conditions conflict with each other.
He will remain in the coma until they can safely bring him out of it. The care team tried to raise his temperature 1 degree to see how he would respond - as that is the first step toward bringing him back to consciousness. He didn't respond well - his swelling increased so they had to reverse the treatment.
So, we wait. Until he is ready to join us again. All of our family appreciates your thoughts and prayers. He definitely needs it as his condition is still critical.
