Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Before Christmas of 2017. Mya 11 went on a strenuous hike to the top of our local mountain. After coming back we noticed she was dragging her right foot a little like she may have sprained it. Then came ice skating and we wrapped it in a ace bandaid hoping it would heal but after watching her eat one day and speaking to teacher we realized there was something more behind it all. We saw her family doctor Jan. 15th and they ran test for lymes (negative) . They scheduled a Mri and a appointment with a pediatric neurologist at Hershey Med Center Feb. 9th where they diagnosed her with a rare disease called Moyamoya. They think she would have had a mild stroke and the only way to decrease her chances of having more is surgery. After lots of research and also getting a Mra done we decided to go to Boston Children's Hospital. Where we plan to do her surgery April 11th.
