First post: Sep 7, 2021 Latest post: Mar 9, 2022
On October 15th,  2018, Louis was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). It is a rare and slowly progressing type of blood cancer that begins in the bone marrow. Louis has taken an oral chemo medication from October 15th, 2018 - June 2021 Louis has remained relentlessly positive since his diagnosis, despite being hospitalized 12 times due to complications from the chemotherapy.

This summer, Louis' doctors put him on a more aggressive cancer-fighting drug that left his body feeling very weak. He developed pancreatitis in June and spent a week in the hospital.  This was the last FDA approved drug available to him to fight this kind of cancer. The doctors highly recommended  he undergo a bone marrow transplant.

In early September 2021, Louis consulted with one of the top oncologists in the US at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The doctor was incredibly informative surrounding the process of undergoing a bone marrow transplant. Louis is now on the national registry to receive   bone marrow transplant.
