Mindy Simmons

On Feb. 2, Mindy took herself to the ER with extreme pain in her abdomen and back. By the time her condition was diagnosed as an aggressive form of neuroendocrine cancer there was no treatment that could save her life. She was brave and accepting of her fate; singing and joking with her doctors and nurses right to the end. She left this world on February 18.

Taped to the mirror in her bedroom was this quote from her favorite guru, Paramahansa Yogananda: "Live each present moment completely, and the future will take care of itself. Fully enjoy the wonder and beauty of each instant. Practice the presence of peace. The more you do that, the more you will feel the presence of that power in you life."  Mindy lived her life to the fullest and she raised the bar for the rest of us.
