After many tests, procedures and weeks Mindy was diagnosed on March 1, 2020 with very severe idiopathic Aplastic Anemia.  Mindy has  faced many changes and overcome many obstacles to her treatment plan.  One of the only cures is a bone marrow transplant. On March 4th she found out her sister, Penny, was a perfect match for the bone marrow transplant. On March 27th Penny went through the bone marrow harvest.  After a three hour surgery they were able to get the 1200 cc's needed but not enough bone marrow cells.  There was a plan to do another marrow harvest however the doctors thought it was best to find another donor.

A new donor was found, a 27-year-old female, in the United States.  The new donor had her bone marrow collection on the 15th or 16th.

Mindy was admitted to Froedert on Friday, April 17th with a plan to start two types of chemotherapy,  ATG and radiation for a week or so. We are hoping for a bone marrow transplant on April 22nd or 23rd.

She will be in the hospital for one month and an additional months at a hospital apartment for rejection monitoring. At this time she is not allowed visitors due to Covid 19 and being severely immunocompromised.

The Covid 19 creates many additional challenges.  Presently there is a severe blood shortage and Mindy had needed blood products every few days.

Mindy's three young  daughters are at home with her husband and mother who has graciously stepped in to assist.

"To God Be The Glory" for Penny's generous gift and a second gift from a total stranger!  Please continue to pray for Mindy and her family. If you are looking for a way to assist please consider being a blood, platelet or plasma donor.
