Monday morning, Mike called Anthony and told him he could not drive back from a jobsite. Angelo and Monica took him to the doctor, he was sent home and told to drink fluids and if he got worse to go to the ER. Shortly after, Angelo and Monica took him to the ER.
Mike was admitted in the hospital on Monday Afternoon for Severe Dehydration and Kidney Problems. That evening he suffered from multiple seizures which put his body in “shock” and left him unconscious.
He was then moved to the ICU.
Over the next 2 days He continued to have Seizures and His body has remained in shock causing multiple organ failure.
How did this happen:
The pancreas and kidney problems have been slowly building. A lot of the symptoms he was experiencing over the past few months were thought to be heat or allergy related when in reality they were signs that he was having problems. The severe dehydration and seizures created a domino effect…..
Almost all of the following information was given to us on Tuesday..
In regards to the Seizures, they have caused damaged to his brain – however the Neurologist says that the damage is fixable at this point. He is currently sedated with 2 medications to control the seizures and to help his body to remain calm.
In regards to organ failure. His Kidneys are 100% non-functioning, he is on 24/7 Dialysis. He has pancreatitis. He is on a breathing machine. His blood pressure has gotten dangerously low 90/60, he is on 3 different medications to help with this.
What needs to happen for him to recover:
His Blood Pressure cannot drop any further – it needs to go up to help his body repair itself.
His body can only recover naturally – it’s up to his body now. The hospital will continue to support him (life support) as much as they can.
The Doctors have said they have seen recovery in similar situations and at this point believe it is possible.
