Many of you have met dear Michel or at least have heard about Michel through colleagues or friends. This site was created to give Michel our support and encouragements to help him on his healing path. Thank you all who has visited Michel at his hospital bedside as well as those who have been praying for him from afar. Please continue sending him your positive vibes and prayers as they are working :)
On October 9th, Michel was unfortunately caught in the Santa Rosa wildfire. He sustained severe 3rd degree burn to most of his body and was admitted to the burn unit at UC Davis in Sacramento. Since then, he has undergone 2 skin graft surgeries and had a few close calls. However, his guardian angels have been working overtime to help keep dear Michel here with us to continue on his road to recovery.
As of today, Michel is awake and alert but in a lot of pain. He normally doesn't believe in taking any medication for aches and pains if he could help it. Lately, however, he's been asking for medications to help alleviate his pain. Even through the pain, he's able to move his limbs and maintains a strong grip in his hands per the physical therapist. His face has been healing nicely as well. He's also able to communicate with visiting friends and colleagues to ask for water today. These are all wonderful signs that we all look forward to from Michel as he continues to heal.
The road ahead remains tumultuous for Michel as he will need more skin grafting. There will be many ups and downs and for every step forward in his recovery, there will be a couple steps backwards too. Continue to support and visit with Michel so that he has hope and not give up this fight.
