The person who is the happiest when helping or healing others. Now he is the one in need of healing.
On the evening of Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, we received a call from Abbott Northwestern hospital that our dad was found laying on the ground next to his home. He was rushed to the hospital with dangerously high blood pressure. After initially being able to respond a little in the ER, he stopped responding and his blood pressure dropped. They stabilized him but discovered through a CT scan that he had suffered a major brain aneurysm (hemorrhage) on the right side causing left-sided paralysis, which they believe was due to the high blood pressure. He is currently in critical condition in the ICU at Abbott. There have been positives and negatives during these first few critical days. He is intubated, heavily medicated, and has developed a lung infection. His CT scans are currently showing no change, but it hasn't gotten worse. He has been showing some positive signs and has been able to answer to simple commands at times or offer your hand a squeeze.
Our world has been turned upside down and can't even begin to describe how shattered us girls are, but as our dad has always taught us -- we will fight. As his cousin described him -- he is one tough Norwegian and so are his Moon and Stars (Star), his Lightning Bolt (Brishen), and his Heart with Wings (Ariel). We are in this together and can't wait until he is able to open his beautiful gray blue eyes again.
