Hi everyone.  This is Jenny.  I will do my best to update this page daily.

Dad had an IVC filter removed I believe the 12th of December because it was broken and was moving up the artery.  He has been on blood thinner ever since to keep the blood clots that he currently has in his legs from traveling to his lungs.  On Saturday morning (Jan 6th) they were supposed to go get his blood drawn to check his numbers.  Dad got up to go to the bathroom and fell.  Mom believes he blacked out because he made no noise in the process, just the sound of him hitting the ground.  Mom said he was out cold for a few moments.  David, Nancy and mom were able to get him up and he came to and they got him dressed and mom brought him in.  They did a CT scan right away and found a few very small bleeds (which have been there in the past) but they sent the scans to his neurosurgeon in St. Cloud to see what he wanted to do.  Dr. Gertuce (the neurosurgeon) said they were "unremarkable." But he wanted dad to come down for observation.  He was transported by ambulance because he was stable and the bleeds were small and not urgent.  In route he went from stable to critical.  The Dr said he "Blew his right pupil," which means the pressure was so great on his brain that his pupil nerve completely pinched off and his pupil was fixed in the fully dilated position.  They immediately got another CT scan in St. Cloud and when they saw the scan they ran him as fast as they could from the CT scanner to emergency brain surgery.  In the meantime he "blew" his left pupil...  Dr. Gertuce said in his career he has never seen this fast of a progression, (the results of the CT scan in Staples to the CT scan in St. Cloud) They removed both sides of his skull to relieve the pressure on his brain and to allow his brain to swell.  They are still removed... He is in a medicated coma and is on a ventilator.  Dr. Gertuce said he has done all he can and now its just a waiting game to see how his brain will heal.  This is the worst brain trauma dad has ever sustained.

Dr. Gertuce said he may never wake up, and if he does he may never be the same... Our family really needs your prayers...
