Hello friends and family,

This is a difficult bio/story to write, one that's not easy to announce or explain, and so some of you have not heard this in person yet.

Recently I was diagnosed with DCIS, Ductal Carcinoma In Situ which is non-invasive, phase 0 breast cancer.  After several appointments, biopsy, second surgical opinion, including homeopathic and naturopathic doctor's care, and a lot of personal reflection, I have chosen a course of care.

I am having a mastectomy on August 4 and reconstructive surgery on August 24. I'll be home recovering until October 4.  I'll be at the UWMC overnight on August 4 and for five nights for the August 24 surgery.

While I'm at home, I would love to see you. Although I won't be very entertaining, seeing a friendly face and catching up would be great.

Looking forward to your half-hugs!
Mary
