Mary (mom)fell December 20 while at home in Frisco,Tx. The cleaning person had left a shower head nozzle facing up and upon turning on the shower , it sprayed up over the shower onto the floor. While cleaning up the water, she slipped and fell (we think) against the ledge of the bathtub onto her right side of her chest. The fall immediately took her breath away, she says for approx 3 seconds and she realized she was unable to get up. My dad had taken the dog for a short walk and found my mom upon returning home. An ambulance was called and she was given some pain meds so she could be transported to Plano Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Tx. The pain was excruciating in the ER and multiple pain meds were tried before she got some relief. Initially we thought maybe she had broken or injured her right shoulder and arm in the fall, but she did not. She had broken ribs 6-10 on her right side, several were broken in multiple places. She also had a small pneumothorax on the right ( or air in her right lung lining) and required a chest tube placement for this. After spending most of the day in the ER, she finally got to a room in the step down ICU
