Thank you all for being here and for praying for and loving our dear Mom, Mary.
Most of you know that she has been recovering from a Traumatic Brain Injury she sustained from a fall while walking, which she has done every day for the last 50 or so years. Recovery been a very long and complicated journey for her. Being as active and strong-willed as she is, she has had a few subsequent injuries which has complicated the healing process.
Given a little healing time, Mom has bounced back after every set-back, and for the most part very quickly. She just needs to be patient and give herself time to heal, which if you know her at all, is no easy task.
Mom has a very difficult time asking for help. In many ways this is the hardest thing for her to do, so on her behalf I am asking for your help because I know she won't. She needs your love, your support, cards and letters, and your prayers. She needs to feel needed, so if you need her, tell her so. It will go a long way with her. 🙏
Currently she is in Silverado Memory Care in Glendale, WI. Memory Care is primarily for patients with progressive Neurological diseases like Dementia and Alzheimers, but we felt this was a safer environment for her than sub-acute rehab, and that she will benefit from their programming and socialization while still receiving the physical rehab she needs to get stronger. The nurses there LOVE her, and have taken her under their wing as one of their own. In moments when mom feels stressed and afraid, they take her on rounds and she helps organize meds for the other patients.
She doesn't have her own phone, but the staff will help facilitate reaching her. You can call them anytime at (414) 269-6598
Don't let her sensitive and loving nature fool you, she is strong as Hell and wants to get back to being independent, being active, and loving her friends, kids, grandkids and nieces and nephews. There is nothing I want more for her, and am also here to support you all in giving her what she needs to get strong and healthy. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me too (510) 501-3640.
Mom has spent her life loving and caring for others, so please send her that support and love back to her now in her time of need. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
