Mary was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a progressive lung disease, in 2016. She has been blessed with a relatively slow progression thus far. Treatment includes pulmonary therapy and the use of oxygen. More info on IPF can be found here:
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pulmonary-fibrosis/symptoms-causes/syc-20353690 In 2017, a non-cancerous brain tumor was discovered (benign meningioma,
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/meningioma/symptoms-causes/syc-20355643) that is causing some problems with motor and cognitive function. Treatment is ongoing but the initial radiation and months of steriod medication has not been as successful as we had hoped in reducing the tumor. Therefore, Mary will undergo surgery to remove as much of the brain tumor as is possible on April 10.
Mary is courageously and gracefully living with the daily challenges of these difficult conditions and demonstrating faith every step of the way. Her husband Jack is bravely by her side, lovingly caring for her and managing the complexities of Mary’s illnesses. Please keep Mary and Jack in your thoughts and prayers. Her daughters, Beth and Lynn will provide journal updates to keep everyone informed through the process.
