Hello Friends & Family -

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.  We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support, prayers, and words of hope and encouragement.

Mary Beth Rice of Cornelia, GA had a biopsy on January 6 which confirmed a 3 mm adenocarcinoma tumor in the head of the pancreas pushing into her Bile duct.

Here's how things unfolded for MB.
Mary Beth and Bob left for vacation after Thanksgiving 2020  to camp @ the Mayport Navel Station, Mayport, Fl.   She developed extreme nausea while on vacation and was in pain most of that trip.   Upon return from Florida she had a CT scan with contrast on December 13 which revealed an inflamed gall bladder.   The referred surgeon pulled bloodwork on December 22nd to which he sent her to the ER immediately.   An MRI  was done at the ER & she was was admitted.    December 23 the hospital in Gainesville did upper GI scope.   By Christmas she understood that the biopsy had to be scheduled to determine a diagnosis.  In the midst of her own medical concerns,  Bob, her husband of 36 years,  suffered a heart attack, and was admitted to ICU.  While Mary Beth chose not to tell  Bob of her pending diagnosis of cancer,  she and her son Ian were with Bob on January 9th when Bob took his last earthly breath and entered into the presence of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  His internment,  with military honors, was January 17th.   As the days ahead unfold, with tests, treatments, and decisions, it is our hope that we can embrace Mary Beth, her son Ian, her support team, friends, and family with earnest prayers and the good news of her strong faith that "This is the day that the Lord has made, and His mercies are fresh and new every morning."

We've started this page so that we could keep each of you updated.  We invite you to leave  prayers, encouragement, blessings, and thoughts .  We also know you want to assist & help her so we will be posting those needs as we know about them.

Thank you for love, caring, support during my journey,
