You will never meet a more caring person than Martha Jo. She was raised to put others before herself. She and her sisters and brother were (and are) some of the kindest people ever to walk the Earth.

Martha met her husband Talmadge on a blind date at the local stock car races. They fell in love and were married. They settled in Lancaster, Texas and as he began work at Sears, Roebuck & Co., she took a job at Lancaster High School as a home economics teacher. She taught and molded many of those who went on to be leaders in the town.

She is a person of faith and has been extremely active in the First United Methodist Church of Lancaster and remains so today.

She has touched so many lives and helped so many, but now she needs help. She was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer on July 6, 2017, after receiving an initial diagnosis two weeks earlier. The cancer has metastasized into the bones of her upper spine and is now considered incurable. But we have also been told that it is a very treatable form of cancer and she can still have much more time to enjoy her life.

Her battle has just begun. And it will undoubtedly be a tough one. We as a family are preparing ourselves for this fight and we hope that we can count on the support of those around us. She has done so much for her family, friends, and community and now it's our turn.

We will be posting weekly updates of Martha's fight and hope you will stop by often to offer your prayers and support.
