On August 12, 2016, Marla went to a scheduled doctor's appointment in Glenwood Springs. She was quite ill with increased coughing and difficulty breathing. The doctor admitted Marla to Valley View Hospital -CCU in Glenwood Springs, Colorado that day with pneumonia. She was medically sedated and placed on a respirator to support her lungs for breathing and allow further evaluation of her illness. On August 25, Marla was able to progress to a tracheostomy/ventilator for lung support. The doctor did a biopsy of the lung tissue which has been sent off to Mayo clinic for a definitive diagnosis. She continues to be in a sedative state. She rested comfortably yesterday. Don and Emily Grace are visiting Marla again today. Her condition is on a day by day basis at the moment, but it is likely that Marla will need to be transferred to a "long term' ICU in Denver in the near future . Don is dedicated to getting Marla the best of care for her recovery. Emily Grace has been a real trooper. I hope this gives you all a baseline to Marla's story. I'm sure you may have questions. I will give updates as I know them. Thank you all so much for your heartfelt help, healing thoughts , and prayers. With love for our dear friend, Lynda( Marla's long time Montrose friend)
