Lynn and Verda flew to Ky on October 20, 2020 to attend their grandsons wedding. They were planning to fly home on Tuesday the 3rd.
Monday November 2...
Dad n Mom went to visit their great grand children one more time before flying home to Idaho the 3rd. It was around 6pm and already dark in Ky when they left there to head back to Donavon's for supper. There are a couple of sharp curves on one of the country roads close to their house. Being unfamiliar with the roads and it being dark, Dad didn't realize how sharp and long the curve was. They made it most of the way around, but as they were coming out of the curve they ran off the road and smashed into a tree in the front on the passenger side. They were taken by ambulance to Baptist Health in Paducah. Dad has seatbelt and airbag injuries to his chest and stomach. Also a fracture of the L5 vertebra. Mom has 11 broken ribs, (6 on one side, 5 on the other) some fractures in her hip and shoulder area, damaged spleen, (doc thought would heal on their own). They have her in a neck brace because of some neck pain. Also her femur bone in the right leg broke at the knee joint. Dad was released from the hospital about 2:20 am and mom was airlifted to Vanderbilt trauma center in Nashville Tennessee. Tues eve they did surgery to fix the femur bone. They seem to be keeping her pain well controlled. And she seems to be doing ok. Although since no one is able to be there we can't be sure of everything. On the other hand, Dad was doing really well yesterday, but today his pain has been really bad and pain pills haven't seemed to help much. That is what we know right now. Updates will only be added as we know more. Please be patient with us! Keep them in your prayers, thank you!
