Early on the morning of Friday, August 12th Lois was awakened by extremely painful headache and quickly realized she had no vision in her left eye. Apparently she was able to call 911, unlock her front door and get fully dressed (including putting on her shoes) and make sure she had her cell phone before EMTs arrived. She was transported via ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Downtown St. Paul. She was quickly given a CT scan, which showed hemorrhagic stroke in the right occipital lobe of her brain. At 4:30 am family was notified and she was sent to the ICU at St. Joe’s. Subsequent CT scans indicate that the bleeding stopped, so surgery has been ruled out.
