Welcome to our CaringBridge website. In case you did not know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer recently. After many visits with Drs., mammograms, ultrasounds, 2 biopsies, and several pre-op preparations this week, our current plan is to have a lumpectomy on 11/17/16.  Lymph nodes on my right side will also be removed.  I will have radiation treatments daily for 6 weeks following surgery, followed by a drug to block estrogen production.  My hope is to avoid chemo., which should be possible if no lymph node involvement is found. I also will be supplementing my treatment with some holistic remedies. My treatment team is at the KU Cancer Center, where my experience so far has been a good one. 


We have had a trip planned for several months and we still plan to go, leaving on Monday 10/31 and returning on 11/15. We will be taking a Celebrity Cruise through Italy, Greece and Israel, following the Biblical steps of Jesus and many others. We join 50 from our group and are very excited for all we will see and experience. 


We are thankful for: early detection, treatable cancer, a good cancer center in our city, and each other. We are also thankful for the outpouring of support and concern, and the many prayers on our behalf.  We are very hopeful for the best possible outcome as we take this journey together.
