I can still remember getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner in 1998 when mom called to say that she and dad would not be coming to Virginia Beach to visit me and Rick. That was the first time I heard the dreaded c-word, cancer. At that time, I could never have imagined that mom would still be here today. We've all had so many more experiences to share with her, and memories to hold on to, than we ever expected. She has said so many times that she has outlived her diagnosis by a long shot. And we owe it all to her positive attitude and dogged determination.
But after a wonderful Christmas together, we got the news that her cancer has spread to her brain and her bones. Not good news, to say the least.
We are not asking for donations (you can't turn that part of the site off), just your words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.
