On Thursday December 27, Linda started a series of tests to determine what was causing her discomfort in her stomach area. She proceeded to have various tests and procedues leading up to an appointment today with a surgeon who will perform an intense Whipple surpgery.  This surgery will take place Jan 11st by Dr. Mark Callery at Beth Isreal Hospital in Boston.  Linda will be under his care in the hospital for approximately 8 days following the surgery. 

The good news of this horrible news is that the tumor found is operable.  12 % of people with this condition are eligible for this procedure.  Linda is healthy and the location of the tumor has created symptoms which has allowed for early detection.  However, this surgery is not a minor one and recovery and further treatments will be a part of it.
