In January 2014, Mom was taken to the ER for severe abdominal pain. A CT scan and a biopsy revealed a two-inch cancerous tumor in her mesentery area and a marble-sized lump on her liver. This slow growing, rare kind of cancer, known as Carcinoid, generally does not respond to chemo therapy and, due to a blood vessel going through the center of the tumor, surgery was not an option.

In 2015, Dad and Mom went to the Oasis of Hope Clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, where Mom received treatment for three weeks, as well as a follow-up visit three months later.

During these years, her health gradually declined. In September 2017, Mom's six-month check-up revealed that new tumors were growing, and the cancer had become aggressive.

Dad and Mom acknowledge that their health and times are in God's hands. They have frequently expressed their gratefulness for caring family and friends and all the prayers offered on their behalf.

In spite of all the discomfort and pain Mom has experienced on this journey, her motto still is "GOD IS GOOD!”
