Today is my first day with caring bridge. I am 39 year old female that has been battling reacuring acute pancreatitis for several years. In 2011 I had a ercp to help with my illness sphincter of oddi dysfunction. The surgeon ended up cutting and I was told I had a perforation. I was transfered to bigger hospital in Springfield Missouri with major surgery. Doctors told me and my family that I possibly would not make it out of surger . This is where my battle with pancreatitis began. I have been hospitalized many times since with pancreatitis. Last week I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis thru a Eus. I also has several biopsies for other things. Awaiting the results. This hashould been a very difficult journey for myself and my family. I was a police dispatcher for 20 years before this and I have had to go on disability and retirement. I am currently being evaluated for total pancreatectomy with islet cell transplant. This would be a 12 plus hour surgery with many weeks in Texas at Baylor Medical. Many long days and decisions are to follow me in the months and years to come. I look forward to hearing from others who also experience the world of chronic pancreatitis
