Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. 

Looking back over the past few weeks, I am overwhelmed with gratitude that I am alive and that God has protected our family and myself this far.  Early Tuesday morning, October 8th, I was admitted to the emergency room because of gastrointestinal bleeding.  After my first colonoscopy, yikes, it was determined that there was a mass that needed to be removed.  A biopsy revealed it was a cancerous tumor in my colon.  Later that week, I had my first surgery, and two tumors were successfully removed, as well part of the colon and lymph nodes surrounding it.  The surgery went well. 

The following Tuesday we got the news that three of the lymph nodes were affected, and so I would most likely need chemotherapy to make sure the cancer did not spread.  We will begin our treatments on November 15th.  We are hoping to make it through 12 treatments over the next six months.

We are so thankful that the tumor hit a blood vessel which caused the initial bleeding.  Without that, the cancer would most likely have  gone undetected and untreated for many more years.  I had no symptoms prior to this.  We know that God who is sovereign over all things has protected me thus far.  We are trusting in Him to carry us through these next difficult days, and are praying for many more years of life to see Ethan grow up and grow old with Kevin.
