In Laurie's words on Sunday evening Nov 6th "I had a small to medium stroke and I was a very lucky girl because it was witnessed by my friend and she called 911. I got the special magic drug (TPA) that has a small window of time to receive. If I wouldn't have gotten this medicine, turns out it would have been a massive big ass stroke associated with a much poorer outcome. I spent two days in the neuro ICU at IMC. After the stroke I can't walk, use my left arm and I have vision loss. I flunked my first swallow test. I could not have diet coke or anything to eat or drink. But luckily a very dear friend brought me diet coke ice chips- that saved me (it's the little things that matter the most...). I feel so blessed I have been showered by an outpouring of love from family and friends."
