At the end of February Larry was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and for the past month we've been coordinating a treatment program with his GI physician, thoracic surgeon, oncologist, and radiologist--quite a journey even before it begins. He's just finished 5 days of concurrent chemo and radiation and is doing very well, some issues swallowing but basically still enjoying eating with very few side effects other than fatigue. The next 4 weeks will be radiation 5 days a week, followed by another 5 days of concurrent radiation and chemo. If all goes well and his stage 3 cancer has shrunk he will have a recovery period followed by a surgery to remove the lower part of esophagus and a portion of his stomach. Bestie, Mary Keehn, is visiting, handholding, and sharing our journey. We are so incredibly lucky to have wonderful, supportive friends an family.
