Lana Kammer Lana Beats Cancer

Hi Family and Friends. Jonathan and I are using this CaringBridge site to keep you updated about my health and to organize your assistance when we might need help, all in one place.

Many of you may not know that during the three years from 2016-2019, Jonathan and I faced two really tough interconnected health battles together. We have chosen to keep most of those battles largely to ourselves. By late fall of 2019 we had gotten all of the difficulties of that period behind us and we started laying the groundwork for becoming parents together.  But we were concerned about a lump on my right breast, and in November 2019 we learned that I had a fast-growing breast cancer in my right breast. On December 18, 2019 I underwent surgery.  I’ve healed really well from it, and because the latest science has shown that chemotherapy will help me beat this specific cancer, I am receiving four rounds of chemotherapy drugs during the months of Feb-April 2020. The chemo effects have been really unpredictable, sometimes the effects have been tough. But I’ve had many more good days than bad. Radiation will follow, and months after that, sometime in late 2020 or early 2021, I’ll undergo a plastic surgery for breast reconstruction.  At any rate, Jonathan and I truly appreciate your thoughts, prayers,  words of hope and encouragement, and support.  Anyone who has been through similar fights knows, this is a lot to take on. Thank you for visiting!
