“At 3:30pm on Thursday, June 14, 2018, we felt our hearts physically break as we were told that our son had cancer, Osteosarcoma.

Osteosarcoma is the most common type of bone cancer, and accounts for about 3% of cancers that happen in children.  KV’s ABA therapy center were the first ones to notice that he had a limp.  They called me one morning after my husband dropped him off and inquired about a limp.  Well, we knew nothing had happened to him so we all agreed to keep an eye on it.  When it didn’t improve, I decided to make him an appointment to see an Othopedic doctor.  So, I found one, made an appointment and waited.  I was just thinking he had a minor fracture.

Well, once we arrived they conducted a routine X-ray, but did say they saw something concerning, a lesion, that required an MRI.  OKAY, so an X-ray turned into an MRI, an MRI turned into surgery to get a biopsy, biopsy turned into cancer diagnosis.  After seeing 2 doctors in two weeks, we finally had an answer as to why he was limping.  He had cancer, my baby, and our lives were changed forever.   This journey will not be easy, but we are determined to remain strong as a family.
