First post: Oct 5, 2011 Latest post: Jun 29, 2017
Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We've created it to keep friends and family updated about Kaila. Please feel free to browse.

In October of 2009, Kaila had her first symptom, a stroke. She also had blood clots in her lungs. In April of 2010, she was diagnosed with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH). She has been frequently in and out of the hospital and bi-weekly she gets a medication called Soliris, one of the most expensive drugs in the world. In May of 2011, she was also diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. Both of these conditions are bone marrow failure diseases. She is due soon for a bone marrow transplant. Without it, the diseases are life threatening. Please visit often and sign our guestbook! :)     Update: Kaila was told by a transplant specialist that she was not a candidate for a transplant. She has had too many blood clots and too many blood and platelet transfusions. She receives platelets once per week and blood about every other week. She still receives the Soliris and has recently had two treatments for the aplastic anemia. The first one failed, the second one we are still waiting to see results. Thanks for visiting!! Please sign her guestbook, she would love that.
💥💥 New update 12/19/16
At this time Kaila has had all treatments available to her and all of them have failed. The doctors have told us that bone marrow transplant is very risky. She would need a perfect match, she has a 10% chance of finding one. After searching the bone marrow registry, she still has no match. Right now, she is very ill and miserable. She is getting a gray tone to her body. We are praying for her comfort and peace of mind. She is emotionally broken and talking about Hospice, but keeps putting it off. Please pray for her. Love everyone of you that can take a few minutes out of their day to pray and think of her.
