Currently Kim is battling NK/T-cell leukemia and an immune disorder called HLH (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis). The outpouring of support from friends and family has been overwhelming. And amazing. To help keep everyone up to date, I will post updates as often as possible related to Kim's diagnosis, treatment, and her recovery. All funds donated through this go straight to us to aid in efforts going forward. Because there have been some questions about 'tributes' vs 'donations', from the CaringBridge FAQ:
What is the difference between CaringBridge's Tribute donation and personal fundraisers for my loved one?
As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, CaringBridge is not able to redirect donated funds to individuals or their families. This is why we have identified GoFundMe as a trusted resource for personal fundraising (
http://caringbridgehelp.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/717). Any gifts made through GoFundMe go directly to the beneficiary of the fundraiser and are not tax-deductible.
Tribute donations made in honor of a loved one are tax deductible and go directly to CaringBridge to ensure our services remain available for all who need them, plus keep our websites ad-free.
