Thank you for visiting Kike's CaringBridge site. It has been established to share Kike's journey with cancer with friends and family because we know you care about him and want to know how he is doing.
Kike is a very active soccer player and rumbustious 12-year-old. Visits to the doctor's office due to falls and small incidents weren't uncommon for him. But after continuous complaints of pain in his arm and further studies he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (
http://kidshealth.org/parent/medical/cancer/cancer_osteosarcoma.html#) bone cancer in late October 2015.
Several rounds of chemo later, the cancer does not seem to be diminishing. As much as his parents and doctor have tried to avoid resorting to arm amputation, it has become clear that it is very necessary in order to avoid the spread of the cancer. This surgery is scheduled for Thursday, February 11th, 2016.
In the meantime, recent scans have revealed a concern of possible Osteosarcoma on his leg. The family is awaiting the biopsy results to either confirm or deny this. Once results from this biopsy are in, a plan for further action will be determined by his parents and his medical team.
Kike and family are putting their trust in the Lord through this journey. They know that no matter what comes their way, they are not alone and the Lord is in control of everything. God's love is obvious through the love,help and support they have been receiving from friends, family as well as complete strangers. They are humbled by the out pour of support.
