The journey began September 6, 2016 when Ken was diagnosed with renal (kidney) cancer. His right kidney and part of his ureter were promptly removed. Ken's surgeon felt confident the cancer was contained.  It was a miracle! Fast forward six months, small masses on his lungs were discovered during routine CAT scans. A few months and biopsies later, it was confirmed the cancer had in fact spread. The once small masses more than tripled in size. Looking forward, Ken and family made preparations to begin a treatment of oral chemotherapy to attack growth of the cancer cells.

After a return flight to San Diego in July 2017, Ken felt numbness from the waist down. An emergency MRI was scheduled  on July 21 to determine the root of the problem. Two tumors were found, one in the lumbar of the lower back, and the other a 3-5 inch cancerous growth between the shoulder blades, pressing against the spinal cord. Specialists made plans to remove the mass and continue care for Ken's health. With a reunion trip to Indiana scheduled the next day, a rush to cancel flights, change arrangements, and contact extended family began. The kids and grandson (Steve, Amanda, Jericho; Edrick & Brittany) altered their plans to spend the week in San Diego, awaiting surgery and recovery.  Which brings us to today...

As we reflect, we are so grateful for the amazing Sharp Healthcare doctors, nurses and team! They have been thorough, compassionate, and loving every step of the way. We wouldn't be where we are if they were not so efficient.

For those who have traveled this road with us to date, we are incredibly humbled by your prayers and care.  To those joining us now, we are so grateful.  We are confident in God's goodness and we find peace in His promises. We covet your prayers moving forward, and ask that you please check in for updates (and share this link with every prayer warrior you know)! Thank you for your continued love and support.

With Love,
The Ingold Family (Ken & Pam; Steve, Amanda & Jericho; Edrick and Brittany)

"Do not be anxious about anything, but by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
