On Saturday, January 25, 2020 our father suffered two seizures at home. Initial tests in the Emergency Room showed a mass in the right parietal lobe of his brain. He was moved to Iowa City that night for observation and more testing.
Our family pulled together and all of us were there during dad’s stay in Iowa City. What an amazing testament to the family values our parents instilled in us.
A brain biopsy was performed, and results confirmed that dad has a Grade 4 Glioblastoma, brain cancer.

He has a team of doctors supporting him, and us, at The University of Iowa. A neurologist, neurosurgeon, oncologist and radiation oncologist all agree that the best option is to remove as much of the tumor as possible.
And so here we are, asking for all the love, support and prayers we can get.
On Monday, February 24th dad will undergo a tumor resection at U of I. We are confident that the medical team will do an excellent job and dad will have exceptional care.
After surgery dad will have a brief recovery period and then will begin radiation treatments and chemotherapy for the next 6-12 months.
His first round of chemo and radiation will be over a 6-week period and he and mom will “live” in Iowa City during the week at Hope Lodge.
