Just a brief note to update everyone as to how we got here.

As many of you know, Kay's health has been declining over the past several years due to decreased mobility and increased pain and has kept her in bed much of her days. In March a trip to the hospital for abdominal pains resulted in a transfer to the St. Cloud hospital where, after tests, Kay was told there was cancer on both lungs. After leaving the St. Cloud hospital, she went to Knute Nelson in Alexandria for some transitional care with the plan to have her go home with Alden after a few weeks. During her stay Kay had a stroke, which has affected her speech slightly. She then went back home to Starbuck with Alden for a short stay before developing pneumonia and back to the hospital. Kay went from the hospital in Glenwood to Alexandria, where she has now started hospice care and is back at Knute Nelson.

Kay has always enjoyed visiting, especially with her children and grandchildren. I know they will always treasure the close-knit conversations they have had. A recent special visit introduced Kay to her great-grandson, Grayson!!

Kay (and Alden) welcomes visitors, but calling ahead is preferred. Too many at one time is overwhelming for Kay.

Our hope for this Caring Bridge site is to connect family and friends with updates and information on Kay and Alden.
