Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Kathy had a tough last 10 days or so...dealing with abdominal pain coming and going.  She saw the dr  earlier in the week and it was decided that this was most likely diverticulitis.    Saturday,  early morning that pain changed drastically.   She waited it out but then went to ER that evening.   Quite quickly it was determined this was an emergency.   Her lab values were very abnormal and a cat scan showed possible perforation in abdomen.   She was taken to surgery where they discovered a colon perforation which required 2 hours of cleaning her out and placement of ostomy.   We were told that she is one of the sickest patients in the hospital  right now.   She was on verge of septic shock with her kidneys shutting down and placing stress on her heart as well.   Her blood pressures were low and she required lots of fluid and medication to stabilize her.  She also remained on ventilator after surgery.  This will be a long recovery and we have been told to expect some complications.  There is also a chance she would require another surgery if blood flow isnt restored to that area.   We are waiting patiently and praying for her to recover soon.
